Fujitsu and nine industry and academic organizations join forces to build the world's first platform to combat disinformation

Under the Economic Security Key Technology Development Program (commonly known as the “K Program”)^{(Note 1)}, which was established jointly by the Cabinet Office, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and other relevant ministries and agencies to strengthen and promote economic security, Fujitsu Limited (hereinafter, Fujitsu) was selected in July 2024 for the project titled Development of Technology Related to False Information Analysis^{(Note 2)} (hereinafter, this project), publicly solicited by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO). As the prime contractor, Fujitsu has selected leading academic institutions and companies in Japan specializing in false information detection and evaluation as subcontractors. Together with the Inter-University Research Institute Corporation, Research Organization of Information and Systems – National Institute of Informatics (NII), NEC Corporation (NEC), Keio University Research Institute at SFC, Tokyo University of Science (known at the time of selection as Tokyo Institute of Technology), the University of Tokyo, the University of Aizu, Nagoya Institute of Technology, and Osaka University – a total of nine partners^{(Note 3)} will form an all-Japan consortium. Beginning in October 2024, the consortium will jointly conduct research and development with the goal of building, by the end of fiscal year 2025, the world’s first counter–false information platform that comprehensively integrates detection, evidence collection, analysis, and evaluation of false information.
